Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween!  Just thought I would post a quick message before I head to bed since I am leaving in the morning for Hawaii and probably won't be able to blog until the end of the week!  Today was a great day and I can't believe I am leaving tomorrow for 3 weeks though!  I got up this morning at 6am and had to be into work by 7am.  We were doing what they call floorset - and we switched all the old stuff around to make room for the CHRISTMAS stuff!  It was actually pretty fun.  I was there for 4 hours and was home by 11:30 and ready to get packed and get ready for trick or treaters!  My mom came over around 3:30 to help me make chili and then we had invited a bunch of our friends and family over for a Halloween party!  My dad even came!!!!  It was so much fun!  I took some great pictures but since I am leaving in the morning I don't have time to upload them (the cord is packed in my suitcase!) - but I promise at the end of the week once I get to our house I will post some pictures on the blog!  We had a ton of trick or treaters.  I didn't know many of the kids - but my cousin Kim lives a street away and he came over with his daughter Riley who is SO CUTE, and my uncle Kim was trick or treating with them!  It was fun to talk to them, and Riley told me she was dressed as princess Aurora (or something like that! ha ha) and she was supposidly the best princess.  LOL.  I think I need a lesson in Disney princesses cause I only know about Cinderella and Snow White!!  =)

Quick update on where I will be this week - tomorrow morning me and my mom are heading to the airport and flying to Denver and then onto Honolulu.  WHICH I AM SO EXCITED ABOUT!  We are going to stay on Waikiki for a few days and go shopping at the Ala Moana mall which is seriously the best and most fun shopping!  Then on Wednesday we will head to the Big Island.  I won't be able to blog until I get to the house so check back Thursday for a new post!  Don't forget about me in the mean time =)  Ok, it's 11:45pm and my dad is picking me up at 6:40am to head to the airport - Night!!

Countdown to Hawaii...

Hey everyone!  So sorry for being absent from my blog the last few days - this has been one of those crazy busy weeks that I feel like I haven't sat down once and still have a to-do list that is 5 pages long!  I am leaving for Hawaii on Monday and will be gone for 3 weeks and it's amazing how many things I have to do before leaving town for that long!  But let me pick up where I left off.....

Wednesday was a super busy day!  I got up and showered and did laundry and then had to babysit at 11:30.  On Wednesday's I pick John up at Kindernook and then we go home and eat lunch and then we have to go to Kindermusik.  We get home a little before 2 when Meagan get's home.  After babysitting I ran home real quick and got changed and then had to go work at Bath and Body Works from 3 to 6.  Then, Wednesday night was one of my favorite nights of the week!  Approximately once a month we get together for what we like to call "sip n dip".  We "sip" wine and we eat "dip".  We try new recipes with each other and get caught up on what everyone is up to.  It is something I really look forward to!  Sometimes we get a little out of control - too much "sipping" and not enough "dipping" - bottom line though, we always have fun!  Our sip n dip group is some of my best friends and I love every minute of being with all of them.  Here is a picture of Wednesday nights sip n dip at Micheles house.

Me and Caroline last summer in MN
Thursday I got up and took a shower and then went up to Westside because my cousin Caroline had asked me to come to her Sociology class.  Everyone had to ask someone who was/had been married to come to their class for a discussion on marriage.  It was definitely interesting and i was really glad I went.  It was fun to be back in the high school and to go to a class.  Some of the questions were really funny and some were highly debated.  Caroline got an automatic A because I came, so I am really glad that I went.  They thought it was so funny in class because I told them that I took sociology in high school and I did my marriage project with David! HA HA  Then I was a call in at work from 12 - 4 and they didnt end up needing me.  So I ran a few quick errands and then went to my mom's house and we scrapbooked for a couple hours!  That was really fun!  Thursday night then David got home and I was so glad to have him back in town.

Friday I got up and took a golf lesson at 9.  It was pretty cold at 9am so I took the lesson indoors.  I was actually glad to do that because it allowed me to hit a lot of balls and really work on my swing.  I am excited to get over to Hawaii and play some golf.  Then I babysat from 11:30 to 2.  After that I ran to Walgreens which was SUCH a hassel because they didn't want to refill my prescriptions since I just refilled them 2 weeks ago.  I explained I was leaving town for 3 weeks so I needed them refilled and I would just pay the full price.  Luckily the pharmacist was nice, and called the insurance company and got them to give me an over-ride since I was going to be out of town.  So what should have been a 2 minute trip to Walgreens, turned into 20 minutes, but at least it saved me about $40.  I'd say that was worth it.  Then I ran to the bank and went and picked up my mom for pedicures at the mall!  I love getting pedicures before going to Hawaii!  I got bright pink and pretty flowers on my toes!  yah!  Last night then me and David went out to OCC for seafood buffet and wine bar!  We love the food at seafood buffet and it was a really fun and relaxing night.  =)  I was so tired when I got home I crashed!

Sorry for such a long blog post and sorry for being absent the last few days!  I am leaving on Monday morning for Hawaii, so I will try to post a few more times before I head out!!  Hope everyone has a great day!

It's a crazy week!

Patricia, Emily, Kath at Charlestons
What a crazy busy week!  So much going on!  I swear every time before I leave town there are a million things to do!  I got an email from Emily with pictures from her birthday so I am including those in this post!  On Sunday night Emily invited me to her birthday dinner with her girlfriends and it was a blast!  We went to Charlestons - and I LOVE Charlestons!  She gave us the cutest "party favors"too - I hadn't thought about birthday party favors in years!  It had candy, nail polish, and hand sanitizer!  So cute. It was really fun to celebrate her birthday this weekend!

Yesterday ended up being an awesome day.  I got up and tried to get some stuff cleaned up around my house and then babysat from 2 to 4.  I had showered and got all ready before babysitting because I was a "call in" at work.  Considering the last 3 times I had called in, they didn't need me, I was doubtful they would use me but I figured the minute I didn't shower and get ready they would want me to come in.   With the call in's, you call in an hour before you are scheduled to see if they need you to come in.  I was on the schedule from 6 to 10 so I had to call in at 5 and that wasn't going to leave me much time between babysitting and going in to work if they needed me.  Let me back up for a minute - earlier in the day I was emailing Laura (Zachary) Tennant - your married now!!! - we do dinner usually once a week.  David works crazy busy hours and is usually home late, and Laura's husband is a fireman and works nights so it works out perfect that we get together for dinner once a week so we both aren't home alone at night - and it helps that we both like to drink wine and eat =)  So since this week is insanely busy and we weren't going to be able to do dinner (we always eat the same thing too - chicken in the crock pot...LOL) I had told her that if I didn't work she should come over for dinner!  My sister was going to spend the night since david is OOT and we could have a girls night for dinner!  It was too late to do crock pot chicken so I thought I would make stir fry chicken.  I finished babysitting at 4 and then went to Hy-Vee and got all the stuff to make stir fry chicken (and wine of course!).  My mom called me then and said my aunt was coming over and to stop over.  So I went over to my mom's house then and thought I would stay there until I had to call in at 5 and then go home and make dinner!  Well, I called in at 5 and THEY WANTED ME TO COME IN AND WORK!  I was so excited!  It totally figured that the last 3 times I called in to work I made no plans and this time, I had made plans for dinner and to have my sister spend the night, and I actually had to go in and work.  LOL.  So I rushed home and changed clothes - put all the grocery's for stir fry chicken in the fridge and headed to the mall.  Work ended up being super fun.  It wasn't too busy but I got to help customers, work the cash register, help re-stock the shelves and do all the closing duties.  I feel pretty comfortable doing the basic's and by the time the busy holidays come around I am confident I will be a pro =)  I get to work again tonight - which is kinda nice since David is out of town right now I have something to do at night.

I think that is all for right now!

Great Weekend!

What a great weekend!  Unfortunately this weekend is ending with helping David pack for a work trip =(  Couldn't be worse timing!  He is going to be gone most of this week, and then I leave for Hawaii a week from tomorrow and am going to be gone almost 3 weeks!  So it really feels like I am not going to be seeing him much for the next month.  I'm trying to not think of it that way though.  Crazy to think that when I get back home from Hawaii it's going to be Thanksgiving time!

My dad eating a breadstick at Dantes
Yesterday I ended up not having to work (probably slow cause the Husker game was going on).  So me and David watched the football game and then went to Rockbrook Camera to look at digital cameras.  I have been wanting a really nice camera and the people there were very helpful.  I think I found the one I want to get and David is going to give it to me as a birthday/christmas gift so I can get a super nice one!  I am really excited to get it!  Then last night we went to Dante's pizza with my parents and sister.  It was really fun to try a new restaurant.  I don't think my dad liked it very much - but anyone who knows him and his eating habits, shouldn't be surprised. (sorry dad - but its true!) LOL  After dinner then it wasn't too late so me and David decided to go have 1 more drink - which turned into 3, ha ha ha, but it was fun.  We started watching the Oklahoma/Mizzou game so that kept us there.

Anyways, it was a great weekend!  Usually every Sunday night during the football season me and David go to Old Chicago for pizza and beer and watch football so kinda stinks he is leaving town and we can't do that!  Have a super busy week ahead getting ready to leave town for 3 weeks, so I will try to blog as much as I can!

I love the fall....

I love the fall.  This morning it was so nice to not hear an alarm go off and our room was a little chilly, and it was cloudy outside.  There is nothing better than laying in a dark room, cuddled under the covers and knowing that you don't have to wake up.  On the other hand I am not looking forward to picking up leaves - oh well.  =)

So last night celebrating Emily's birthday was a blast!  We went to sushi Blue and ate tons of sushi!  I swear every time I go to Blue, I eat so much sushi that I swear I am not going to eat sushi again for a long time!  Courtney remember the time the 4 of us went there and we were honestly SICK from eating so much sushi!  I am laughing as I type this just thinking about it - that was so much fun!!  I love all their martinis there too!  So good.  After dinner, me and David went to see Jackass 3D.  I had never seen a 3D movie before and I was kinda nervous because I get motion sick really easily and I wasn't sure if a 3D movie would make me sick.  Luckily - it didn't!  It was pretty cool how they give you the glasses to wear, and some parts when stuff comes flying out of the screen its so strange!  The movie was really funny, but some parts were seriously gross.  I really wanted to go see the Social Network - but it was kinda nice to go see a movie that was totally pointless, required no thinking, and I definitely was laughing a majority of the time.  OH, I almost forgot one of the funniest parts about the movie - it wasn't the actual movie even!  Right as the movie started I smelled something funny - I looked at David and go, "is someone smoking pot in here".......he was cracking up, and throughout the entire movie, like every 20 minutes a very strong odor took over the movie theatre. ha ha ha ha.  I was kinda surprised someone didn't go get the cops (we were at the theatre at Westroads and its like a police station there, with so many cops all over), I thought it was hillarious.  Who is dumb enough to smoke in a movie theatre???  LOL.

Only have a few more minutes to type before I need to go shower because I might get to work today!  So, as everyone knows I don't have a job - well I nanny like 7 hours a week, but that's not much.  So I wanted to get a job for the holidays so I would have some money to buy Christmas presents and stuff.  My sister who works at Von Maur saw a sign at Bath and Body Works that they were hiring for the holidays.  So the next day, I went in and filled out an application and they hired me!!!  Its a perfect holiday job!  I love being at the mall during the holidays - the decorations, the music, people excited for Christmas....and as everyone knows, I LOVE shopping - so I can't think of a better holiday job for me!  The products are easy to learn, and I've always wanted to use a cash register so I am super excited!  Not to mention, I am excited for a little extra cash! I started training a few weeks ago because I am going to be in Hawaii the first couple weeks in November and they said they would just train me before I leave and then I would start working the holidays the week I get back of Thanksgiving.  Anyways, today I am supposed to call in at noon and see if they want me to come in!  Fingers crossed they do!  Otherwise -looks like i'll be watching the Husker game.   GO BIG RED!

Happy Birthday Emily!

Patricia and Emily
Happy Birthday Emily!  I am so excited to celebrate with you tonight!  Better back up - Emily is David's sister!  Emily is the same age as my sister - so its really fun because Emily and my sister grew up together in middle and high school and would have known each other even without me and David!  In the last 2 years me and Emily have become really good friends and I feel so lucky!  I know I can tell Emily anything and it helps that we like the same things and also we find the same things annoying!!  We can even read each other's mind sometimes in our messages to each other!  Ok, enough of the sappy stuff - Happy Birthday Emily!

So this week has gone by verrryyy slow for me.  Which is kinda weird because I have been really busy!  Today is also Breezy's birthday!  Breezy is another one of my best friends.  Breezy is the same age as Tricia and Emily actually!  But last night me and Tricia went to Prairie life and had a joint training session with our trainer Jack.  On Wednesday we had gone to Zumba (we go every Wednesday at 5:30), well for whatever reason the Zumba teacher gave me and Tricia stuffed bears from a vending machine - apparently he wins them from one of those claw games.  He was promoting some charity or something and gave them out - clearly I didn't pay that close of attention to the meaning of the stuffed bears.  Well, when we were leaving Prairie Life we saw Jack the trainer and gave him one of the bears and challenged him to use this stuffed bear in an exercise!  Well, it turned out to be SO funny!  He taped the stuffed bear to a medicine ball and when we did exercises with it, if the bear fell off the ball we had to do 10 burpies.  So much fun - everyone wanted to join in our fun exercise! Well, after working out we went to Red Mango to celebrate Breezy's birthday!  YUM!  I am already anxious to go back and try new flavors!

Ok, gotta go finish getting ready for the day - I am babysitting today and we are making Halloween cupcakes!  =)

Thank You!

I am so happy people want to read my blog!  Even David said he thought it was cool I made a blog!  Wow!  Those of you who know him know this is amazing!  Yesterday I posted on facebook that I made a blog and if anyone wanted to read it to let me know - people responded!  Well duh, if you are reading this, you probably responded to me!  I didn't want to just post the link out there because let's be honest - just because I am friends with people on Facebook doesn't mean there aren't a bunch of wierdos that I am friends with!  I do realize that these said wierdos can still search and find the blog - but probably less likely.

So I am not really sure how often I am going to be blogging - maybe sometimes it will be daily, sometimes weekly - I'm not really sure.  I am going to use this blog to tell funny stories (I tend to think I am funny when I really am not - so bare with my humor), tell about my experiences, trips I have taken, etc.  I definitely am not going to use this blog as a soapbox and talk about how to save the world, campaign for politicians, and so on.

Ok - gotta go!  Going to work out now and then go to Red Mango to celebrate Breezy's birthday with my sister!  Can't wait!
Thanks for reading my blog!!!

Why the heck did I start a blog???

Ok, so I am not really sure why I started a blog - (David - I know you think this is probably stupid, but I thought it might be fun - no one is probably going to read it anyways!).  I read other people's blogs and I always think its really interesting to hear what people are up to - maybe it means i have too much time on my hands but oh well, let's give it a shot.  =)  So this idea of blogging came to me today while i was BBM'ing with Em - not really sure why, just out of the blue!  Here are my thoughts:

The last few months have been CRAZY busy - went to Hawaii, Minnesota, planned my high school 10 year class reunion (which was a blast by the way!), my best friend got married - showers, bachelorette parties, and of course the wedding!, ran my first half marathon - 13.1 miles (probably one of my biggest accomplishments thus far in life - and i could type a whole blog about my thoughts around that), had friends in town from Hawaii, and the list goes on and on.  These are the type of things I want to blog about.  No one probably cares about any of them but I kinda think it sounds fun to write about what i am doing in my life.  I love to scrapbook - pick out the perfect color of paper, crop my pictures, pick out cute stickers and letters and paste it all down.  The problem is - no one ever sees my scrapbooks!  I spend hours and hours scrapbooking - I literally have my entire life scrapbooked. (not exaggerating).  Yes, I am a very sentimental person (and a perfectionist) and i cherish all my experiences in life and want to remember every little detail.  I also do realize no one ever is going to care about seeing my entire life scrapbooked - I have to remind myself it's also a hobby.  I also try to tell myself that some day my children will love looking at them (maybe not the ones from college though)  - who knows if they will want to see them or not! ha ha.   Where am i going with this you are probably wondering - blogging is kinda like scrapbooking.  I am not a great writer, which you have probably figured out, and tend to ramble and stray away from topic but I'm gonna do my best.  Blogging is going to be another form of scrapbooking for me - and if by chance you ever want to spend hours looking at my actual scrapbooks, let me know - if not, feel free to keep reading =)
