12.29.10

Hey everyone!  I got all my Christmas pictures uploaded so I will share some with you at the end of this post!  Today I didnt have to work!  It was so great!  I don't have to babysit this week either because they are out of town!  Soooo, what did I do today???  SCRAPBOOK!  ha ha.  I have talked about it in many posts before how much I love scrapbooking - so today was my ideal way to spend a day!  I got up and went over to my parents house and me and my mom scrapbooked all day long.  Well, we did take 2 quick breaks - the first was for lunch.  We had turkey burgers, apples, and green beans - delicious.  Then we ran to Von Maur real quick to do an errand - I can't give you anymore details on this errand because the person we were shopping for is a reader of my blog =)  Let's just say it was wedding related!  he he.  It was nice to not have to work at BBW today - although I really do like working there.  It's super easy and I like all the people that work there.  Did I mention the paycheck?? ha ha.

Anyways, now I am home though waiting for David to get home to have dinner.  Last night I made chicken in the crockpot for us, and tonight is the leftovers.  Yum!  I think then after dinner we are going to run to Sports Authority.  I got some gift cards to SA for christmas and this morning in an email I got some coupons so i was going to head over there and maybe get some new running shoes!  My old shoes have quite a few miles on them, so I think its time to get a new pair!  Nothing inspires you to workout more than new gear! =)

Merry Christmas!

Hey everyone! Hopefully people are still following my blog even though I have been absent from posting in awhile!  I have to start by saying what a GREAT Christmas this was!  Does anyone ever feel like some years its a really great holiday and other years its just so so?  Last year was one of those years - not because we didn't get great presents, or spend lots of time with family but we were leaving town the next day and we spent the whole holiday rushing around getting ready to leave town.  On top of it, there was a blizzard and 2 feet of snow, so we were nervous about getting to the airport, and missing our flights, etc.  Well, I just knew this Christmas was going to be a good one!  I just had a feeling.  Boy was I right!!  Christmas Eve, we went to church at 3 and then went to a Christmas party.  I wasn't checking my phone at all because I didn't think anyone would be calling me!  When I got to my parents I ran upstairs to say "Hi" to Tricia (she didn't come to church and the party because she had to work!) and give her these cake pops I got at the party for her!  Well, forget the Cake Pops - SHE GOT ENGAGED!!!  It was so exciting!  I could type this entire blog about all the wedding planning we have already done but we will get to that another time!  I will  finish up the holidays first! =)

Christmas eve was a blast.  It was so fun seeing how excited Tricia was and calling all her friends and family.  My Grandpa, Aunt, Uncle, cousin and all my family was there for dinner and presents then!  We had our usual Christmas dinner of beef tenderloin, twice baked potatoes, and asparagus caserole.  It was the best dinner!  Although I am probably biased - but my mom is the best cook in the world!  We had cookies that me and my mom had made and they were the best cookies we have ever made - did I mention that I just knew this Christmas was going to be a good one???!!!  =)  After dinner we exchanged gifts and then sat around and talked and had a few drinks.  It was a perfect night.

The next morning we got up and went over to my parents and opened presents.  Its always fun to open presents and see everyone's reaction to their gifts.  I will post some pictures here soon - but my dad's reaction to his gifts is the best.  He had a theme this year - everything was either golf or husker related.  I think he liked all his gifts except the old man husker sweater we got him - ha ha ha, he said he liked the one David got better and hated his.  Hopefully I have a picture of both these sweaters to show cause it was so funny!  =)  You are right dad, David's was much cooler than yours! =)  After presents we went over to Anderson's for more fun!  We had our traditional "Christmas Margaritas" and had lunch and then opened presents.  We watched some home movies of David and Emily when they were little and it was SO cute to see them as kids.  I really enjoyed watching the home movies!

Overall it was a great Christmas!!  Thank you everyone for all the fun gifts!  Will post some pictures from Christmas soon!

12.10.10

So starting a blog right before the Holidays probably wasn't the best idea as we all know how crazy life get's!  So, for the third post in a row, I apologize for not posting very often!  Life the last few weeks has flown by - i have been super busy - but in a really good and fun way!  I have been working at Bath and Body works a ton lately.  I am really enjoying the job and its been REALLY fun to see a paycheck deposited into my checking account!  =)  The last time i posted it was my birthday (last weekend!).  I will upload some pictures this weekend for everyone to see!  Unfortunately the Huskers didn't win, but oh well.  I still had a great birthday.  On Sunday I scrapbooked at my parents house all day with my mom!  It was super fun.  Sunday night we went to Kobe's for dinner and then back to my parents house for cake and presents.  I got super cool presents from my sister and parents and I am so lucky.  I am not sure if I mentioned it in an earlier post or not, but David got me the Canon Rebel T2i camera for my bday!  It is seriously so awesome.  I am still learning how to use it, and having so much fun with both the lenses.  It is so fun to have a big clear camera to use!  Thanks David!!  You are the best!  I haven't had to babysit this week because the kids have been sick - so that has actually been kinda nice to have the week off.  It gave me  a chance to work on our xmas cards - which i just dropped in the mail today!  The rest of the week I have been working and that's about it.  I guess I have one kinda funny story - so yesterday at work I had told mom to stop in because the 3 wick candles she likes were on sale 2 for $20.  So, she comes in, i introduce her to everyone and she walks over to the candles.  As she reaches up to grab a candle the shelf breaks (its really high up) and the entire shelf of candles come crashing down on her head and on the floor.  She literally broke like 12 candles.  LOL!!!!!!!  I am laughing now only because she didnt get hurt.
Anyways - thank you for still reading my blog!

Well, today is my 29th birthday!!  And I am spending it in the most perfect way possible!  Unfortunately I had to work all afternoon, but I honestly didn't really mind much.  Then all I wanted to do tonight was come home, put on my Nebraska sweatshirt, watch the football game, drink a beer, and order pizza on my couch at home.  I am typing this while I sit on the couch doing just  this with the best husband in the whole world, my sister who is my best friend, and her boyfriend Mike.  I honestly couldn't think of a better way to spend my birthday.  I know I haven't really blogged much this week - but when I started this blog I said I didnt know exactly how much I would be blogging.  Some weeks more than other weeks and this was a slow week.  Mainly because I have been really sick.  I have had a terrible cold and every free minute I have had at home I am sleeping.  On Thursday I got done with work at 3 and came straight home and basically slept until 10am on Friday morning.  Ok, gonna get back to the game - hopefully I can post tomorrow about a Husker win =)

Kona and Enzo

Kona and Enzo are our 2 cats.  We love them so much!  We got them right after we got married so they are about 2 1/2 years old now.  We got them at the Humane Society when they were 2 months old.  They were so cute and only weighed 2 pounds!!!  Kona and Enzo are brother and sister - Kona the boy, and Enzo the girl.  When I went to the Humane Society to pick them out Kona immediately jumped up on my lap and never got off.  I knew I had to have that cat.  Even the people who worked at the Humane Society said I had to go home with that cat - he picked me, I didn't pick him!  Enzo was so playful and we loved her energy - not to mention she was so stinkin cute!!  When she got tired she jumped up and fell asleep in my lap with Kona - it was at the moment I looked down in my lap and had 2 cats asleep on my legs that I knew which 2 cats were coming home with me!

2 1/2 years later we love our cats so much and couldn't imagine them not being at our house with us!  I often wonder what their 3 siblings are up to and where they are living.  Kinda strange to think about.  Today I took Kona and Enzo to the Cat Clinic for their yearly checkup.  My mom came with me - its not easy to load up 2 cats and get them in the car to the vet.  Kona meows the entire car ride.  Its so funny to listen to.  Once we got there they were both really good and let the Dr. give them their shots.  Kona liked to jump off the table and look around the room.  He was very curious as to what everything there was.  It's not strange for your animals to wander around the vets office, LOL.  When we were waiting for the doctor to come in the room it was so cute because Enzo crawled back into her carrier and looked at me like "mom, i'm back in the carrier, let's go home!".  All of a sudden Kona crawled in there with her, and this carrier is not very big at all!  I snapped a quick picture on my phone to show you!  I think Kona was saying to himself "take me too!  I'm not going anywhere without my sister!".

Other things that have been going on - had a great thanksgiving with family!  Worked all day black friday which was very long but fun.  Also worked on Saturday.  Did yard work for SEVEN HOURS on sunday.  I am so sore today its not even funny.  My back kills!  I hate picking up leaves more than anything!  Oh, i forgot to mention that I found out last Wednesday I had an ear infection - so being outside picking up leaves all day was probably not the best thing for me to be doing, but it had to be done.  Ok, getting tired and gonna head to bed!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

So sorry for being absent from the blog all week so far!  It's always crazy when u get back in town after being gone for 3 weeks.  We got home Sunday morning and you are always SO tired after traveling all night.  You never really sleep very good on the plane.  I could have slept all afternoon Sunday but I have found that staying awake all day is the best way to get adjusted to the time change.  So, me and David decided to get out our christmas tree and decorations!  So not only did we have the mess of me unpacking - but the mess of Christmas stuff ALL OVER! ha ha, I mean why not right?!  But, now our house is all decorated for Christmas and the mess is all cleaned up!

On Monday I babysat.  It was good to see the kids again after so many weeks.  They had a lot of energy and made me laugh.  They asked me to read them a book and I kept pronouncing the ducks name wrong and they thought it was hillarious.  Tuesday, I got up and made lasagna for me and David!  Then I had a hair appointment and I cut 3 inches off my hair!  So now its blonde again and really short!  The lasagna turned out good and I was able to cut most of it up and freeze it.  When David get's home at 9 from work and is hungry its something easy he can heat up (and not make a huge mess!).

Yesterday, I had a dr's appointment in the morning and then I went over to my parents house to bake pies with my sister.  We made a cherry pie and 2 pumpkin pies.  Here is a picture of my cherry pie! I am probably biased, but I think I make the BEST crust and my cherry pie is darn good.  Even people who
usually don't like cherry pie like my cherry pie!
Me and Tricia have so much fun baking pies each year, its one of my most favorite traditions.  One year we sold our pies - we named our business "Sisters Pies".  We didn't stay in business more than one year because we had told everyone our pies were $10 and no one took us serious that we were actually charging for them.  So we ended up spending 12 hours making 15 pies, and no one paid us.  No joke, NO ONE paid us.  So, Sisters Pies quickly went out of business. ha ha.  We did give one of our pumpkin pies to my grandpa and Pattie and they love our pies.  They count on getting one of our pies each year.  At the end of this post I will post some pictures of Sisters Pies.  Then last night I had to go into work for a "Black Friday" meeting at work.  They told us all the specials they will be having and how they want us to interact with the customers.  Should be a crazy day!  I am actually looking forward to it!  I am sure the day will go by very quick.

Well, today is Thanksgiving.  I can honestly say this is one of my most favorite holidays.  I am so thankful for everything in my life.  I have the best husband, the best parents, the best sister, wonderful friends - I feel very lucky.  Thank you so much for reading my blog and hope you have a great Thanksgiving!

11.17.10

Not much to report today but thought I would leave a quick post to say hi to everyone!  When we got up this morning it was really really cloudy!  Reminded me of a rainy day in Omaha!  Ate a quick breakfast of yogurt and granola and then went down to Cardio Circuit class.  My most favorite of all the classes!  And Dana was teaching today so that made it even better! When class was over and i went outside - it was sunny!  So we headed back up to the house and ate some lunch and now are sitting by the pool!  My dad is floating on a raft, my mom reading a magazine and I am multi-tasking (ha ha) by blogging and talking to David by text message =)  Life is good.

We are going into Kona tonight to have dinner at Huggos.  Haven't been there in awhile so that will be fun.  I am hoping the shaved ice stand is still up next door!  My dad said he heard it maybe closed but we will see.  Some Li hing mui shaved iced sounds really good!!!

Ok, short post today!

11.16.10

Well, its Tuesday - just as I imagined this week would fly by!  Not much new to report.  Last night we went to the Brew Pub with Jeff and Dana.  That was super fun!  They have the best pizza and I love the atmosphere there.  Drank a Hula Hefeweisen beer and then we came home.  I think we were home by like 8:30 - so not a real late night.  This morning I got up and went to Zumba.  Usually my mom comes with but they were playing golf with some friends this morning.  We love the zumba instructor over here!  She is the best - so fun and has so much energy.  Makes the class just fly by AND you leave feeling like you had a fun workout!  Everyone who works here is so friendly and such great people.  I actually miss seeing them when I am home!  Last night I asked Dana if she would want to come Zumba (she is the fitness director here) and she came!  It made it so fun that she was in class (and so I wasn't the only person ha ha).  The other day Bianca (the Zumba instructor) asked me if I would want to run in the Kona half marathon next June - so that kinda got me thinking and a little bit re-motivated.  She brought it up again today so I am going to have to see if I have it in me to do another one.  I had been thinking about wanting to do the Lincoln half marathon but doing it in Kona might be pretty fun.  I would imagine the scenery would make 13.1 miles seem a little more bareable.  It would be the closest I would ever come to competing in an Ironman. ha ha.  Not sure if the dates would work but I think I am going to think about it.  The support system over here is unlike anything at home that's for sure.  Everyone is so encouraging, it's really nice.  Although - I don't think I can run another half without Emily - so Emily are you free next June to come with??????  =) =) =)

Now I am back at the house and sitting by the pool, typing this blog and waiting for David to text me that he landed!  (he is heading home today). I know Kona and Enzo are going to be super happy to see him!! This morning when I got up I checked my work schedule for next week - so that makes me kinda excited to get home and get to work at my new job.

I am also starting to make out my xmas list for everyone!  I am an early shopper - in fact I usually have my Christmas shopping done by Thanksgiving so I am a little behind this year!  I'm kinda weird like that!  In fact - I ordered our Christmas cards in October, ha ha ha.  I can justify that one though - I knew I was going to be gone basically all of November, so this way when I get home all I have to do is address the envelopes.  I still need to get a few addresses of people who have moved so I am not THAT on top of it =)

Just got a text from David - he is half way home!  He almost missed his connecting flight - so glad he made it!  Sitting in the airport is the worst!  Tonight we are going to eat dinner at the 4Seasons.  It's also one of our most favorites~ I think we are eating there like 3x this week. ha ha.  (we don't branch out much).  =)

Ok, gotta go soak up as much sun as I can before heading back to Omaha - my days are numbered!
Thank you so much for reading!

Happy Monday!

Well a week from now I will be home!  Its so nice to be in paradise but I am actually excited for everything going on at home!  Thanksgiving will be so much fun that week!  Thanksgiving is actually one of my most favorite holidays!  Aside from the holidays, of course I am excited to see David, and Patricia, and Kona and Enzo!  I LOVE Christmas decorations and decorating a christmas tree and I can't wait to get that set up with David when I get home.  We were also talking about putting some lights outside for the first time this year also.  We will see how cold it get's though - my motivation for that could change real quick if there is snow on the ground =)  Kona and Enzo love the christmas tree and I think its so cute when they sleep under the tree.  I also love being home at night watching a movie and having the Christmas tree lit up!

When I started this post it was this morning and now its afternoon here!  I am a little slow typing today.  Since it is Monday here the club is closed.  Me and my mom ran to town this morning to get my dad a few things he needed at the store and now we are back home.  My dad is floating on a raft in the pool and me and my mom are reading magazines (and i am obviously typing a blog ha ha).  I am also texting David who is in New York right now!  Kinda weird to think he is literally on the other side of the country!  I don't think you could be any farther away than Hawaii and New York.  I feel bad when we are both gone and Kona and Enzo don't have anyone to cuddle with - but I know they are in good hands with David's parents!  They love to have their grandma come over and play and brush them!  I think they like Grandma Nancy brushing them better then me or David!  Tonight we are going to go to the Brew Pub and I can't wait to drink a beer there and have some pizza.  It is one of my most favorite places to go!  Our friends Jeff and Dana are going to meet us there too!

Ok, the hot tub is calling my name!  First top though - grab a beer.....I better take advantage of being able to drink a beer at noon while I am here =)

SnOw!!!!

I CAN'T BELIEVE IT SNOWED IN OMAHA!!! I took that in to account today when I was deciding what to do - soak up as much sun as I can before I go back to the cold!  So, as I type this I am sitting by the pool.  Don't hate me Omaha friends  - but I am seriously questioning what is wrong with all of us who live there!  =)  It's a beautiful morning here in Hawaii.  Today is an exciting day because my dad is on the plane as I type heading over here!  He get's in around 4:30 and I can't wait to go pick him up at the airport!  I am excited for my dad to get here, but I also remember thinking before I left town that "once my dad get's to Hawaii I only have 1 week left here".  So, a week from today I will be heading back to the cold to join all my crazy friends who also live in freezing temperatures half the year!  I wish Patricia and David were heading over here for the week - its just not the same without them!  Me and my sister when we are here stay up late at night and watch movies or tv shows on dvd.  We used to watch 24 - but now we have moved on to Dexter!  Do any of you watch Dexter????  Me and David also have a tradition over here that one morning we get up and go to Sports Authority and then to taco bell.  Kinda random I know - but its just something we do every time.  Also - Taco Bell over here isn't like at home where its $5.  It's like $12 over here. LOL.

Last night our friends Jeff, Dana and her sister Ricki came over for dinner!  It was so fun to have them over here!  We grilled Omaha Steaks outside and talked.  It was a great night!  They are such great friends to have over here and we love spending time with them.

Ok, gonna end this post pretty quick here today.  I am going to try and find some of my favorite shows that I have been missing at home and watch them on my computer by the pool =)  Stay warm everyone!
Thanks for reading!

Time flies!

Sorry for being absent from my blog for so long - it's amazing how fast time goes by! I've had a really great week and I can't believe we are closing in on our final week here!  My dad get's here on Saturday and I am excited for him to get here!!  I think his flight get's in around 4:30 or so on Saturday so we will be waiting for him all day!  =)

So this week we have gone to zumba, played golf, sat by the pool, taken walks - its been a great week!  The other day when we were leaving zumba and I was walking through the spa shop I saw they had purple capilenes in!   I think the people working there thought I was crazy cause I got so excited!  I took a couple pictures to show you!  I LOVE it!!!!
Me holding my new shirt!
The weather here the last few days has been kinda weird (Omaha people - trust me, I am NOT complaining because I know its cold there!).  But its been overcast and yesterday it was really voggy.  It's about 9am right now and it looks pretty voggy out again today - but hopefully it clears up as the day goes on.  Not sure what we are going to do today, we had talked about playing golf but I kinda want to start reading that book I got so maybe we will do that instead and take a walk or something.  Yesterday I went to cardio circuit class again.  It has always been my favorite class but after Sunday's class I wasn't sure if I loved it or hated it cause it was SO hard!  Today is the first day my leg's don't hurt every step I take. I told the teacher yesterday I didn't think it was possible for me to do a lunge or squat.  So we worked on upper body and core the whole time.  My arms are pretty sore today, but not nearly as bad as my leg's have felt the last few days!  As most of you know, I workout all the time at home and work out with a trainer on a regular
New purple capilene!
basis, but I am telling you - nothing compares to the workouts they put together over here.  People over here are fitness crazy - to the point I kinda question their sanity at times!  People over here run marathons on a whim and every other person you meet is competing or has competed in the Kona Ironman!  One guy we know over here has done Ironman like 7x or something crazy like that!  So if you think your in shape and want a reality check - workout with someone over here LOL.

I was thinking last night how crazy it is, that when I get back home its going to be Thanksgiving and then my birthday, and then Christmas!  I am excited to get home and put up our Christmas tree and get out all our Christmas decorations!  I am not looking forward to the snow but I love the holidays! Ok, off to figure out what i am going to do today! Sorry again for being absent from my blog!
Thanks for reading!

One week down!

One week in Hawaii is in the history books!  Time goes by so fast!  I am writing this by the pool at our house - and it is WINDY!  Every time I stand up my towel blows away and it's really blowing!  You can see white caps out in the ocean.  It's been kinda wierd weather the last couple days - 2 nights ago it rained, and then yesterday it rained quite a bit.  That is very unusual for over here!  It never rains here!  Here is what I have been up to the last couple days:

Yesterday we got up and were hoping to find the Husker game on tv.  No such luck.  ABC was playing the Oregon/Washington game.  It didn't help that Hawaii was playing at the same time as NE because that seemed to be on a million channels when I flipped through.  So we decided to go take a walk down by the ocean.  We started at Kukio and walked over to the 4Seasons.  Our most favorite walk and beautiful walk! When we got down there it started to get really really overcast, and then it did start to sprinkle while we were walking.  It actually felt pretty good.  When we got back, we got score updates and were glad to hear we won!  Then we sat by the pool down below and read some magazines and then took showers before heading back up to the house.  We hung out at the house for a bit before heading up to dinner up top - golf club.  We sat at the bar and talked to our friend Lief for a bit and then ate dinner.  We both had the Ono and it was really good.  I'm not a big fish eater, but over here it is definitely the best option.  Their meat doesn't compare to home.  The rain had stopped by dinner time and it had actually cleared up outside.  Got home around 9 and then went to sleep pretty quick afterwards.

Today we got up and I went down to take Cardio Circuit class.  Boy, it was tough!  I was the only person in the class so it was basically a personal training session.  She really kicked my butt.  I think i am going to need a nap this afternoon for sure!  We came back up to the house and now are sitting by the pool at the house.  The workout class wore me out, so staying by our pool at the house sounded nice!  I'm too lazy to pack my bag and head down to the pool below.  (and I think a nap is in my very near future =) ).  OH! Has anyone read the book "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo?" I got it at Target the other day and am excited to start reading it!  I have heard its supposed to be good - i'll let you all know what I think!
Thanks for Reading!

9 holes of golf...

Hey everyone!  Well, its Friday already and this week has flown by!  This morning we got up and had a few people by the house to work on a few things and then me and my mom headed up to the golf course for a few holes of golf!  It was very hot today, but we didn't care!  Anything was better than the weather report we were getting from Omaha!  We got up there around 9:30 or so and hit some golf balls to practice.  I was a little worried, but yet excited to play, becuase I have changed my golf swing so much in the last few weeks I didnt know how it would go.  I started off with the mentality that I wasn't going to keep score, but then after the first 2 holes and I was only 1 over par, I thought it might be a good round to keep track!  The course was pretty busy, so they had us play the back 9.  I don't play the back 9 as much so that was fun.  The wind was pretty bad so a few holes when I really thougth I crushed the ball, it didnt go nearly as far as it could have had the wind not been so strong.  I took a few pictures of the course, and my mom playing for the blog.

After we finished 9 holes we decided to head up to the bar and have a pop and talk to Lilly.  We were going to eat lunch, but when we started playing they came around the course with breakfast wraps and we both ate those so we weren't very hungry.  We had fun sitting and talking to Lilly and before we knew it, 2 hours had
passed by.  It started to get really cloudy out and then we heard there was a big fire on the North side of the island, and what we thought was rain clouds, was actually fog from a big fire.  They even said 3 houses had burned down!  Crazy!  By this time it was about 2:30, so we headed back to the house and took showers and have just been hanging out ever since.  It was sprinkling a little rain also, so not a good pool afternoon anyways.

Oh, I almost forgot!  I told you in a post a few days ago how me and my mom had the best eggplant parmesan in Honolulu and so we decided to try and make our own!  We found a recipe in a cookbook we had here and bought all the ingredients at the grocery store!  I will let you know how it is tomorrow!  We are off to try and cook it right now, and then watch a few movies if we can stay awake =)  Gotta get up to watch the Husker game tomorrow morning!
Thanks for reading - or "Mahalo"!

Hawaii Day One...

I love it here - I really truly love being in Hawaii.  The people are nice, the weather is perfect, great restaurants, perfect house, etc.  Of course I miss David, and my house and my cats though.  Today we got up - it was very early because we are still not adjusted to the time change (5 hours earlier here).  Did a few things to get organized then me and my mom headed into Kona to go to the grocery store and Target.  It was cloudy in town but we got all our errands complete.  It felt like home going to the grocery store here - it's amazing how after spending so much time here it all just feels so natural.  We got groceries for breakfast, lunches, and snack foods.  We are also obsessed with eggplant parmesan after eating it 2 nights at Longhi's in Honolulu so we bought stuff to attempt to make that.  I will let you all know how that goes! =)

We came back to the house and unpacked all the groceries, then hung out at the house all afternoon.  We had a few people stopping by to work on stuff so we thought we should stay close to home to make sure everything got done and if they had any questions we would be near by.  It got really windy and cloudy later in the day so we didn't miss out on a good pool day anyways.  Then we got ready for dinner and headed over to the 4Seasons to meet Dana and her sister for dinner.  Jeff was working at the bar so we thought we would eat there so we could talk to him.  It was a perfect night.  The wind died down and it was a little cool so it was absolutely perfect.  We had GREAT food and drinks and it was fun to see Jeff.  Now we are home and I am gonna head to bed.  Tomorrow morning me and my mom are going to play golf and I can't wait!!!!!!!!!  Wish me luck - I am hoping for a good score.  =)

Aloha from Waikiki and Kona!!!

ALOHA!!!  Well we made it to Hawaii and what a great couple of days it has been already!!!  My mom and I flew out of Omaha on Monday morning and went to Denver and then onto Honolulu.  All our flights were on time and other than the flight being long - everything went as planned! We had a few hours lay over in Denver, but to make the time go by quicker we went to our usual favorite "french" restaurant - that isn't "french" at all - but the name is like "le paris" or something and so we always refer to is as the "French" restaurant.  LOL.  I had the sunrise breakfast which consists of eggs, bacon and pototoes - could life be any better than that???  I slept a majority of the 7 hour and 22 minute flight.  I was so tired from a long week before - that combined with 2 dramamine and i was knocked out.  I think my mom watched the 2 movies and drank wine - we were both very content.  I am so lucky that I have been able to travel to Hawaii so many times, and I never thought I would say this, but I think I am kinda getting used to the 7 hour flight.  Each time I come over here it seems to go by quicker and not seem so brutal.  Those of you who know me, know that I get VERY motion sick.  Like can't even go canoeing motion sick.  So for me to say a 7 hour flight isn't bad is huge.  The dramamine does help quite a bit and being able to sleep for 3 hours helps a ton.  I also love my ipod touch.  I loaded a couple tv shoes on there, so that combined with sleeping for 3 hours - we were landing before I knew it!

View of Waikiki Beach from our hotel room
Drinks at Longhi's
Once we got to Honolulu we went to the Marriott Waikiki.  This is a picture of Waikiki beach from our hotel room.  What an awesome view!  We got to our hotel room about 4:30 on Monday and checked in really quick and then headed to the Ala Moana shopping center right away!  It is about a 10 minute cab right from the Marriott.  We were at the Ala Moana by 5pm and didn't waste any time shopping!  Our first stop - LULULEMON!  I absolutely LOVE lululemon and found some great stuff.  Those of you who aren't familiar with Lululemon really should check it out.  It's all workout clothes and it's the BEST!  I literally wear their workout crops every day and I own a drawer full of their tank tops.  When I ran my half marathon this summer I wore all Lulu and I literally can't work out in any other brand.  I swear by it.  So we shopped a little and then went to Longhi's for dinner.  Me and David went to Longhi's in Maui on our honeymoon too.  Honestly - when me and David went there it wasn't our favorite restaurant but its me and my mom's most favorite restaurant here.  Maybe me and David just ordered the wrong thing the night were were there, but me and my mom love it!  They have the best eggplant parmesan.  Wait, I should probably back up - we of course started with drinks and this is a picture of the blue martini I ordered.  It was so delicious!  I think it was called a blueberry drop and it was lemonade, vodka and blue caracao.  Yum!  After dinner we were so exhausted after flying all day, shopping, eating and drinking - that we headed back to the hotel.  We didn't want to go straight to bed so we headed to the hotel bar for one more drink to make ourselves stay awake.  The bar at the hotel is so fun.  It's right by the hotel pool and over looks the street and Waikiki beach AND they have live music every night.  Here is a picture of the guy playing music.  We both had one more drink then headed back to the hotel room.  We crashed pretty quick.

Live music at the Marriott Waikiki bar
Tuesday we woke up and took showers and got some coffee and then headed back over to the Ala Moana!  We shopped all day and it was a blast!  They have a great Nordstroms there.  We spent a few hours there and then ate at the Nordstroms cafe for lunch.  I could eat lunch there every day, all their food always looks so good!  Every time we eat there I have the hardest time deciding what to eat.  Mom got some soup, and I got a salad and then we split the ham and cheese panini.  We each got a cookie for desert and it was the perfect lunch. We then headed back out to shop more -  stopping at White House/Black Market, Neimans, Macy's, Cache, another stop at Lululemon, Nordstroms, and many more!  What a great mall!!!  By 4:00 we were all out of money and we remembered the night before that Longhi's had a sign up that they had Happy Hour from 4 to 7.  So we headed back to Longhi's - bags in tow, for happy hour.  We sat at the bar and talked about all the fun things we found that day!  We couldn't think of a better way to end the day than with a few drinks and a second night of eating our favorite eggplant parmesan!  We were there for a couple hours and then headed back to the Marriott.  We didn't think we should go to bed that early so we went for one more drink at the hotel bar and to listen to some more live Hawaiian music.  Around 8pm we went back to our room and packed and then headed to bed.  What a fun day.  We both couldn't stop talking about all the fun stuff we found shopping and what an all around great day it was.  Even though we had a great time in Honolulu, we were both excited to get to sleep to wake up and head to the big island.  =)

This morning we got up and headed to the airport.  It was pouring rain in Honolulu so a perfect day to head out.  Our flight was scheduled to leave around 10:30am.  Its a very quick flight and we were scheduled to land around 11:18.  We got to the big island without any problems and got unpacked.  It was SO nice to be back at our house, with all our stuff.  Really felt like home.  It's so different traveling here and not having to stay in a hotel.  I feel very lucky and feel right at home here.  I miss Omaha, my house, and cats, and David of course - but being here is so peaceful.  I can't say it enough, how lucky I feel.  We had a great dinner down at Kukio and I am about ready to hit the pillow and crash.  I'll update you more tomorrow!

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween!  Just thought I would post a quick message before I head to bed since I am leaving in the morning for Hawaii and probably won't be able to blog until the end of the week!  Today was a great day and I can't believe I am leaving tomorrow for 3 weeks though!  I got up this morning at 6am and had to be into work by 7am.  We were doing what they call floorset - and we switched all the old stuff around to make room for the CHRISTMAS stuff!  It was actually pretty fun.  I was there for 4 hours and was home by 11:30 and ready to get packed and get ready for trick or treaters!  My mom came over around 3:30 to help me make chili and then we had invited a bunch of our friends and family over for a Halloween party!  My dad even came!!!!  It was so much fun!  I took some great pictures but since I am leaving in the morning I don't have time to upload them (the cord is packed in my suitcase!) - but I promise at the end of the week once I get to our house I will post some pictures on the blog!  We had a ton of trick or treaters.  I didn't know many of the kids - but my cousin Kim lives a street away and he came over with his daughter Riley who is SO CUTE, and my uncle Kim was trick or treating with them!  It was fun to talk to them, and Riley told me she was dressed as princess Aurora (or something like that! ha ha) and she was supposidly the best princess.  LOL.  I think I need a lesson in Disney princesses cause I only know about Cinderella and Snow White!!  =)

Quick update on where I will be this week - tomorrow morning me and my mom are heading to the airport and flying to Denver and then onto Honolulu.  WHICH I AM SO EXCITED ABOUT!  We are going to stay on Waikiki for a few days and go shopping at the Ala Moana mall which is seriously the best and most fun shopping!  Then on Wednesday we will head to the Big Island.  I won't be able to blog until I get to the house so check back Thursday for a new post!  Don't forget about me in the mean time =)  Ok, it's 11:45pm and my dad is picking me up at 6:40am to head to the airport - Night!!

Countdown to Hawaii...

Hey everyone!  So sorry for being absent from my blog the last few days - this has been one of those crazy busy weeks that I feel like I haven't sat down once and still have a to-do list that is 5 pages long!  I am leaving for Hawaii on Monday and will be gone for 3 weeks and it's amazing how many things I have to do before leaving town for that long!  But let me pick up where I left off.....

Wednesday was a super busy day!  I got up and showered and did laundry and then had to babysit at 11:30.  On Wednesday's I pick John up at Kindernook and then we go home and eat lunch and then we have to go to Kindermusik.  We get home a little before 2 when Meagan get's home.  After babysitting I ran home real quick and got changed and then had to go work at Bath and Body Works from 3 to 6.  Then, Wednesday night was one of my favorite nights of the week!  Approximately once a month we get together for what we like to call "sip n dip".  We "sip" wine and we eat "dip".  We try new recipes with each other and get caught up on what everyone is up to.  It is something I really look forward to!  Sometimes we get a little out of control - too much "sipping" and not enough "dipping" - bottom line though, we always have fun!  Our sip n dip group is some of my best friends and I love every minute of being with all of them.  Here is a picture of Wednesday nights sip n dip at Micheles house.

Me and Caroline last summer in MN
Thursday I got up and took a shower and then went up to Westside because my cousin Caroline had asked me to come to her Sociology class.  Everyone had to ask someone who was/had been married to come to their class for a discussion on marriage.  It was definitely interesting and i was really glad I went.  It was fun to be back in the high school and to go to a class.  Some of the questions were really funny and some were highly debated.  Caroline got an automatic A because I came, so I am really glad that I went.  They thought it was so funny in class because I told them that I took sociology in high school and I did my marriage project with David! HA HA  Then I was a call in at work from 12 - 4 and they didnt end up needing me.  So I ran a few quick errands and then went to my mom's house and we scrapbooked for a couple hours!  That was really fun!  Thursday night then David got home and I was so glad to have him back in town.

Friday I got up and took a golf lesson at 9.  It was pretty cold at 9am so I took the lesson indoors.  I was actually glad to do that because it allowed me to hit a lot of balls and really work on my swing.  I am excited to get over to Hawaii and play some golf.  Then I babysat from 11:30 to 2.  After that I ran to Walgreens which was SUCH a hassel because they didn't want to refill my prescriptions since I just refilled them 2 weeks ago.  I explained I was leaving town for 3 weeks so I needed them refilled and I would just pay the full price.  Luckily the pharmacist was nice, and called the insurance company and got them to give me an over-ride since I was going to be out of town.  So what should have been a 2 minute trip to Walgreens, turned into 20 minutes, but at least it saved me about $40.  I'd say that was worth it.  Then I ran to the bank and went and picked up my mom for pedicures at the mall!  I love getting pedicures before going to Hawaii!  I got bright pink and pretty flowers on my toes!  yah!  Last night then me and David went out to OCC for seafood buffet and wine bar!  We love the food at seafood buffet and it was a really fun and relaxing night.  =)  I was so tired when I got home I crashed!

Sorry for such a long blog post and sorry for being absent the last few days!  I am leaving on Monday morning for Hawaii, so I will try to post a few more times before I head out!!  Hope everyone has a great day!

It's a crazy week!

Patricia, Emily, Kath at Charlestons
What a crazy busy week!  So much going on!  I swear every time before I leave town there are a million things to do!  I got an email from Emily with pictures from her birthday so I am including those in this post!  On Sunday night Emily invited me to her birthday dinner with her girlfriends and it was a blast!  We went to Charlestons - and I LOVE Charlestons!  She gave us the cutest "party favors"too - I hadn't thought about birthday party favors in years!  It had candy, nail polish, and hand sanitizer!  So cute. It was really fun to celebrate her birthday this weekend!

Patricia and Kath
Yesterday ended up being an awesome day.  I got up and tried to get some stuff cleaned up around my house and then babysat from 2 to 4.  I had showered and got all ready before babysitting because I was a "call in" at work.  Considering the last 3 times I had called in, they didn't need me, I was doubtful they would use me but I figured the minute I didn't shower and get ready they would want me to come in.   With the call in's, you call in an hour before you are scheduled to see if they need you to come in.  I was on the schedule from 6 to 10 so I had to call in at 5 and that wasn't going to leave me much time between babysitting and going in to work if they needed me.  Let me back up for a minute - earlier in the day I was emailing Laura (Zachary) Tennant - your married now!!! - we do dinner usually once a week.  David works crazy busy hours and is usually home late, and Laura's husband is a fireman and works nights so it works out perfect that we get together for dinner once a week so we both aren't home alone at night - and it helps that we both like to drink wine and eat =)  So since this week is insanely busy and we weren't going to be able to do dinner (we always eat the same thing too - chicken in the crock pot...LOL) I had told her that if I didn't work she should come over for dinner!  My sister was going to spend the night since david is OOT and we could have a girls night for dinner!  It was too late to do crock pot chicken so I thought I would make stir fry chicken.  I finished babysitting at 4 and then went to Hy-Vee and got all the stuff to make stir fry chicken (and wine of course!).  My mom called me then and said my aunt was coming over and to stop over.  So I went over to my mom's house then and thought I would stay there until I had to call in at 5 and then go home and make dinner!  Well, I called in at 5 and THEY WANTED ME TO COME IN AND WORK!  I was so excited!  It totally figured that the last 3 times I called in to work I made no plans and this time, I had made plans for dinner and to have my sister spend the night, and I actually had to go in and work.  LOL.  So I rushed home and changed clothes - put all the grocery's for stir fry chicken in the fridge and headed to the mall.  Work ended up being super fun.  It wasn't too busy but I got to help customers, work the cash register, help re-stock the shelves and do all the closing duties.  I feel pretty comfortable doing the basic's and by the time the busy holidays come around I am confident I will be a pro =)  I get to work again tonight - which is kinda nice since David is out of town right now I have something to do at night.

I think that is all for right now!

Great Weekend!

What a great weekend!  Unfortunately this weekend is ending with helping David pack for a work trip =(  Couldn't be worse timing!  He is going to be gone most of this week, and then I leave for Hawaii a week from tomorrow and am going to be gone almost 3 weeks!  So it really feels like I am not going to be seeing him much for the next month.  I'm trying to not think of it that way though.  Crazy to think that when I get back home from Hawaii it's going to be Thanksgiving time!

My dad eating a breadstick at Dantes
Yesterday I ended up not having to work (probably slow cause the Husker game was going on).  So me and David watched the football game and then went to Rockbrook Camera to look at digital cameras.  I have been wanting a really nice camera and the people there were very helpful.  I think I found the one I want to get and David is going to give it to me as a birthday/christmas gift so I can get a super nice one!  I am really excited to get it!  Then last night we went to Dante's pizza with my parents and sister.  It was really fun to try a new restaurant.  I don't think my dad liked it very much - but anyone who knows him and his eating habits, shouldn't be surprised. (sorry dad - but its true!) LOL  After dinner then it wasn't too late so me and David decided to go have 1 more drink - which turned into 3, ha ha ha, but it was fun.  We started watching the Oklahoma/Mizzou game so that kept us there.

Anyways, it was a great weekend!  Usually every Sunday night during the football season me and David go to Old Chicago for pizza and beer and watch football so kinda stinks he is leaving town and we can't do that!  Have a super busy week ahead getting ready to leave town for 3 weeks, so I will try to blog as much as I can!

I love the fall....

I love the fall.  This morning it was so nice to not hear an alarm go off and our room was a little chilly, and it was cloudy outside.  There is nothing better than laying in a dark room, cuddled under the covers and knowing that you don't have to wake up.  On the other hand I am not looking forward to picking up leaves - oh well.  =)

So last night celebrating Emily's birthday was a blast!  We went to sushi Blue and ate tons of sushi!  I swear every time I go to Blue, I eat so much sushi that I swear I am not going to eat sushi again for a long time!  Courtney remember the time the 4 of us went there and we were honestly SICK from eating so much sushi!  I am laughing as I type this just thinking about it - that was so much fun!!  I love all their martinis there too!  So good.  After dinner, me and David went to see Jackass 3D.  I had never seen a 3D movie before and I was kinda nervous because I get motion sick really easily and I wasn't sure if a 3D movie would make me sick.  Luckily - it didn't!  It was pretty cool how they give you the glasses to wear, and some parts when stuff comes flying out of the screen its so strange!  The movie was really funny, but some parts were seriously gross.  I really wanted to go see the Social Network - but it was kinda nice to go see a movie that was totally pointless, required no thinking, and I definitely was laughing a majority of the time.  OH, I almost forgot one of the funniest parts about the movie - it wasn't the actual movie even!  Right as the movie started I smelled something funny - I looked at David and go, "is someone smoking pot in here".......he was cracking up, and throughout the entire movie, like every 20 minutes a very strong odor took over the movie theatre. ha ha ha ha.  I was kinda surprised someone didn't go get the cops (we were at the theatre at Westroads and its like a police station there, with so many cops all over), I thought it was hillarious.  Who is dumb enough to smoke in a movie theatre???  LOL.

Only have a few more minutes to type before I need to go shower because I might get to work today!  So, as everyone knows I don't have a job - well I nanny like 7 hours a week, but that's not much.  So I wanted to get a job for the holidays so I would have some money to buy Christmas presents and stuff.  My sister who works at Von Maur saw a sign at Bath and Body Works that they were hiring for the holidays.  So the next day, I went in and filled out an application and they hired me!!!  Its a perfect holiday job!  I love being at the mall during the holidays - the decorations, the music, people excited for Christmas....and as everyone knows, I LOVE shopping - so I can't think of a better holiday job for me!  The products are easy to learn, and I've always wanted to use a cash register so I am super excited!  Not to mention, I am excited for a little extra cash! I started training a few weeks ago because I am going to be in Hawaii the first couple weeks in November and they said they would just train me before I leave and then I would start working the holidays the week I get back of Thanksgiving.  Anyways, today I am supposed to call in at noon and see if they want me to come in!  Fingers crossed they do!  Otherwise -looks like i'll be watching the Husker game.   GO BIG RED!

Happy Birthday Emily!

Patricia and Emily
Happy Birthday Emily!  I am so excited to celebrate with you tonight!  Better back up - Emily is David's sister!  Emily is the same age as my sister - so its really fun because Emily and my sister grew up together in middle and high school and would have known each other even without me and David!  In the last 2 years me and Emily have become really good friends and I feel so lucky!  I know I can tell Emily anything and it helps that we like the same things and also we find the same things annoying!!  We can even read each other's mind sometimes in our messages to each other!  Ok, enough of the sappy stuff - Happy Birthday Emily!

So this week has gone by verrryyy slow for me.  Which is kinda weird because I have been really busy!  Today is also Breezy's birthday!  Breezy is another one of my best friends.  Breezy is the same age as Tricia and Emily actually!  But last night me and Tricia went to Prairie life and had a joint training session with our trainer Jack.  On Wednesday we had gone to Zumba (we go every Wednesday at 5:30), well for whatever reason the Zumba teacher gave me and Tricia stuffed bears from a vending machine - apparently he wins them from one of those claw games.  He was promoting some charity or something and gave them out - clearly I didn't pay that close of attention to the meaning of the stuffed bears.  Well, when we were leaving Prairie Life we saw Jack the trainer and gave him one of the bears and challenged him to use this stuffed bear in an exercise!  Well, it turned out to be SO funny!  He taped the stuffed bear to a medicine ball and when we did exercises with it, if the bear fell off the ball we had to do 10 burpies.  So much fun - everyone wanted to join in our fun exercise! Well, after working out we went to Red Mango to celebrate Breezy's birthday!  YUM!  I am already anxious to go back and try new flavors!

Ok, gotta go finish getting ready for the day - I am babysitting today and we are making Halloween cupcakes!  =)

Thank You!

I am so happy people want to read my blog!  Even David said he thought it was cool I made a blog!  Wow!  Those of you who know him know this is amazing!  Yesterday I posted on facebook that I made a blog and if anyone wanted to read it to let me know - people responded!  Well duh, if you are reading this, you probably responded to me!  I didn't want to just post the link out there because let's be honest - just because I am friends with people on Facebook doesn't mean there aren't a bunch of wierdos that I am friends with!  I do realize that these said wierdos can still search and find the blog - but probably less likely.

So I am not really sure how often I am going to be blogging - maybe sometimes it will be daily, sometimes weekly - I'm not really sure.  I am going to use this blog to tell funny stories (I tend to think I am funny when I really am not - so bare with my humor), tell about my experiences, trips I have taken, etc.  I definitely am not going to use this blog as a soapbox and talk about how to save the world, campaign for politicians, and so on.

Ok - gotta go!  Going to work out now and then go to Red Mango to celebrate Breezy's birthday with my sister!  Can't wait!
Thanks for reading my blog!!!

Why the heck did I start a blog???

Ok, so I am not really sure why I started a blog - (David - I know you think this is probably stupid, but I thought it might be fun - no one is probably going to read it anyways!).  I read other people's blogs and I always think its really interesting to hear what people are up to - maybe it means i have too much time on my hands but oh well, let's give it a shot.  =)  So this idea of blogging came to me today while i was BBM'ing with Em - not really sure why, just out of the blue!  Here are my thoughts:

The last few months have been CRAZY busy - went to Hawaii, Minnesota, planned my high school 10 year class reunion (which was a blast by the way!), my best friend got married - showers, bachelorette parties, and of course the wedding!, ran my first half marathon - 13.1 miles (probably one of my biggest accomplishments thus far in life - and i could type a whole blog about my thoughts around that), had friends in town from Hawaii, and the list goes on and on.  These are the type of things I want to blog about.  No one probably cares about any of them but I kinda think it sounds fun to write about what i am doing in my life.  I love to scrapbook - pick out the perfect color of paper, crop my pictures, pick out cute stickers and letters and paste it all down.  The problem is - no one ever sees my scrapbooks!  I spend hours and hours scrapbooking - I literally have my entire life scrapbooked. (not exaggerating).  Yes, I am a very sentimental person (and a perfectionist) and i cherish all my experiences in life and want to remember every little detail.  I also do realize no one ever is going to care about seeing my entire life scrapbooked - I have to remind myself it's also a hobby.  I also try to tell myself that some day my children will love looking at them (maybe not the ones from college though)  - who knows if they will want to see them or not! ha ha.   Where am i going with this you are probably wondering - blogging is kinda like scrapbooking.  I am not a great writer, which you have probably figured out, and tend to ramble and stray away from topic but I'm gonna do my best.  Blogging is going to be another form of scrapbooking for me - and if by chance you ever want to spend hours looking at my actual scrapbooks, let me know - if not, feel free to keep reading =)
